Each one is a structural feature of the schedule: where you rotate, who is standing next to you, and how many people are ahead of you in line.

The airway is yours
There is no competing residency in this department. Intubations, central lines, chest tubes, lumbar punctures and laceration repairs are not shared out. They are the job. Seventeen 12-hour ED shifts a month as a PGY-1, fifteen by PGY-3.
Trained where the trauma is
Trauma, PEM, and PICU blocks run at Good Samaritan University Hospital, the region's Level I center, and you hold a trauma team role at both community sites.
Toxicology, from the inside
A dedicated rotation at the NYC Poison Control Center puts you on the statewide consult line, so the overdose is a call you have already taken from the other end.
22,000 pediatric visits behind you
Pediatric EM at a site with a PEM fellowship and an 8-bed PICU, so the sick child is not the first one you have seen.
